At The Nairobi Academy we know that our students deserve a holistic learning experience and our all-round learning experiences are a worthwhile vehicle towards this goal. Our school environment and educational programmes provide our students with a firm foundation in their academics as well as their co-curricular pursuits, preparing them for a wide range of post-secondary school engagements which may be academic or vocational.

A secondary school education at The Nairobi Academy is designed to stimulate, challenge and motivate learners to become confident and life-long problem solvers. We develop our students to be intellectually curious, physically and mentally healthy and resilient, articulate with confidence, and work efficiently both individually and collaboratively.

Students at the school enjoy a wide assortment of academic subjects along with an extensive array of extra-curricular pursuits. The academic subjects offered are vast, numbering up to 20 different subjects across the different Key Stages. These academic subjects are clustered in departments as follows;

In this department we provide ICT, Computer Studies, IT and Mathematics. The department offers a range of other complimentary activities related to these subjects in any academic year, which include Mathematics Challenge contests, ICT Subject Exhibition Days, the Computer Science (coding) Club and Subject-based Learning Excursions.

Here we have English Language and English Literature. Complimentary and enrichment activities in this department range from Debates, Verse Speaking contests to the World Scholars Challenge.

Including French, German and Swahili subjects. Enrichment activities in this department include Verse Speaking contests, partnership activities with Alliance France’ and the German Embassy, along with Subject-related learning expeditions.

Subjects available for our students within this department include Global Perspectives, Drama, Music and Art & Design. Some of the complimentary learning pursuits in this department include the Annual Drama Play Production, Music Festivals & Concerts, Art and Design challenge competitions as well as industry visits.

Encompassing Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Activities that our learners experience along with studying these subjects include the Science Fair (local and international), Science Contests and scientific clubs. The school prides in well-equipped science laboratories that stimulate and inspire young scientists into scientific research, engineering and medical pursuits.

A large and highly successful department offering History, Geography, Sociology, Business Studies, Economics and Sociology. The department offers an overall interesting and thrilling selection of learning experiences including highly popular international learning trips and excursions. This includes the Model United Nations (MUN) club. Subject-based exhibition days offer our students the opportunity to display their knowledge and creativity as they hone their social skills.

Physical well-being is the focus. Subjects include Physical Education, Sports and Sports Sciences and examinable IGCSE PE. Students are exposed to and trained in a variety of sports such as swimming, hockey, rugby, football, rounders, netball, basketball, tennis and squash amongst others. Great sport talent development is found at The Nairobi Academy as we boast of extensive sports fields on a 60 acre campus.

We offer three vocational subjects as BTEC Extended National Diploma courses in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, Sports Science and Information Technology (IT). BTEC is a post-IGCSE optional pathway to the university for our students who learn best through research and project work. The department has achieved 100% transition into universities and the work environment since it was introduced at The Nairobi Academy 6 years ago.

In addition, our students’ experience is enriched through the invitation of Guest Speakers, Alumni and professional personalities to speak to them, inspire and motivate them towards our focus and goal of High Academic Achievement and life-long learning.
